For Woolly Wellness founder, Charlotte Miller, her love for animals came from growing up next door to a dairy and sheep farm. She would often sneak over the back wall to visit the sheep, feeding the lambs in springtime. Those early moments, among the animals, instilled in her a lifelong connection with nature and a deep appreciation for the calm and comfort animals bring.
What followed was a 22 year career at a local primary school, but Charlotte's passion for animals never faded. She kept a small flock of Castlemilk Moorit sheep but when her daughter wanted to be more involved she searched for a gentler breed. That’s when she discovered Coloured Ryeland sheep, known for their friendly, calm nature. Charlotte took her sheep to a forest school session at the school, where she worked, and after seeing the effect working with the sheep had on the children Woolly Wellness was born. Charlotte became an Animal Therapy Practitioner, dedicating her time to nurturing her flock and bringing a little Woolly Wellness to schools, nurseries, care homes, and community groups.
Woolly Wellness was awarded a £2,000 Build Your Business grant, funded by West Northamptonshire Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to help Charlotte to grow her business.

As well as visiting settings with her sheep, Charlotte has developed a passion for working with the fleece from her sheep. She says there’s something so grounding about using the wool the flock provides — washing, carding, and weaving it by hand on a peg loom to create natural mats and other handmade pieces. These woolly creations are available to order, each one made with care using sustainable, natural materials from her own sheep which is a beautiful way to bring a touch of Woolly Wellness into your home.

Best advice received
One of the most valuable pieces of business advice Charlotte has received is:
“Build a business around work you genuinely love — passion is felt by clients.”
It is evident that Charlotte has taken this advice on board.
