Towcester Library BIPC Local Launched Today

Today the Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire officially launched it's BIPC Local hub at Towcester Library. This was the second launch event of the month after the Brixworth Library launch on 2nd November. The Towcester launch, which was well attended by key local stakeholders, partners and entrepreneurs, included networking opportunities and key talks by Carl Dorney, Library Service Manager and Patricia Greaves, BIPC Manager, Northamptonshire Libraries and Information Service, as well as Ruth Roan from Building Business Consultancy and Reset. Restart small business grant winner Kim Hughes from Goldings Communications.

The Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire has been supporting businesses since 2015. In that time, over 1750 people have used our services and we have helped over 500 entrepreneurs start a business through a rich variety of webinars, workshops and one-to-one business and intellectual property advice sessions. We are delighted to announce that we are expanding throughout Northamptonshire by adding two additional 'BIPC Local' sites in Brixworth and Towcester libraries to sit alongside Kettering, Wellingborough, and Northamptonshire Central libraries.

The Business & IP Centre Local in Brixworth Library and Towcester Library is delivered in partnership between the British Library, Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire and Library Services. It forms part of the Business & IP Centre National Network, delivered in libraries across the country, providing business advice and support to local entrepreneurs to start, protect and grow their business.

The Network has a strong track record of supporting local economies, and in 2019 an independent economic evaluation showed the BIPC was creating £6.95 of public value for every £1 invested, and in the three years to 2019 supported the creation of 12,288 new businesses, 55% of which were started by female entrepreneurs and some 31% by BAME entrepreneurs.

The British Library and Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire BIPC teams have worked closely with Northamptonshire Library Services to prepare for the opening of BIPC Locals and we very much hope that you will be able join us in November to see some of the fantastic work the team are doing to support local entrepreneurs.
