Cat hospitality by cat people: The Regent Street Cattery in Desborough
Meet Sue and Lionel Roberts, the passionate duo behind The Regent Street Cattery, a boutique, eco-friendly cat hotel that offers exceptional care and comfort for feline guests by cat people.
The Regent Street Cattery is a boutique, eco-friendly cat hotel nestled in the back garden of Sue and Lionel Roberts, lifelong cat lovers and hospitality professionals. Opened in summer 2024, the cattery features sustainable design elements such as ground screws to protect local wildlife, rainwater harvesting and a fully insulated, double-glazed structure for year-round comfort.
Sue and Lionel bring decades of high-level hospitality experience, from managing iconic pubs to running restaurants at major events like the Chelsea Flower Show, Silverstone and Molineux Stadium. Joining the Build Your Business programme, they sought marketing and business mentoring to grow their business effectively.
In order to develop their business plan, Sue and Lionel drew on their 40 years of hospitality management experience and Build Your Business mentoring sessions:
-
Mentoring one-to-ones: Personal development with Rob Harrison and Marketing with Susie Mitchell
-
Business basic one-to-one with James Stancombe
-
BIPC Business Networking at the Vulcan Works
Their business plan demonstrated their passion and experience in hospitality management and how this would be applied to their new venture, winning them the Build Your Business Small Business Grant. The grant was awarded, enabling them to build a professional website, which is currently under construction.
"The BIPC Northamptonshire helped me greatly with the mentoring one-to-ones. I needed guidance on marketing and social media, as they will be critical to the growth of the business, and the mentors and information specialists I had meetings with were great."
