Meet small business grant winner, Kate McKenzie from Word Window.
Word Window is a new and innovative product that has been designed to aid children developing literacy skills. Word Window helps parents and teachers to break down the phonetic sounds within words when children are learning to read.
When it comes to reading it can be difficult for children to isolate the sounds and so Word Window is a handheld device that opens and closes around the letters and sounds.
Word Window is an ethical company ensuring sustainability; made from recycled plastic and recyclable. 30p from every Word Window purchased goes towards helping raise literacy levels in the UK.
After a wave of enquiries and over 150 applications, the Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire team shortlisted 34 aspiring entrepreneurs, who were invited to give a presentation on their new start-up to a panel of judges in a Dragon’s Den style elevator pitch as part of the Reset. Restart Small Business Grants programme. Word Window was one of our 19 winners.
